What Is Sclerotherapy?
Spider veins are tiny, very superficial veins that occur in clusters or separately. They can become unsightly and most numerous in the thighs and ankles. The cause of spider veins has been attributed to heredity, hormonal influences, trauma, and venous reflux. Sclerotherapy involves the injection of a mild chemical solution to collapse the affected veins. The closed veins are reabsorbed into the body, eliminating the spider vein problem.

When to Expect Results
The number of sessions needed will depend on the severity of your spider vein problem. In general, spider veins disappear about 6 to 12 months after treatments are completed.
