What is Juvederm Volbella® XC?
Juvederm XC is the number one-selling collection of fillers approved by the FDA. Volbella XC with Lidocaine is the newest addition to the line, an injectable gel that subtly increases lip fullness and smooths vertical lines.
The gel is made with hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in the body that helps attract and retain moisture for long-lasting results. Volbella XC helps to define a patient’s lip shape, while adding subtle volume and diminishing the appearance of vertical lines around the mouth.
Juvederm Voluma XC, another lip filler in this collection, is a more appropriate treatment option for people who want to achieve a poutier lip. These two products can be used together, depending on the desired look. If a patient wants a noticeably fuller lip and to remove the look of vertical lines, Voluma and Volbella could be used in tandem.
How Does Volbella XC Work?
As we age, our lips lose fullness due to a decrease in collagen and moisture retention. Volbella XC works below the skin’s surface to reshape lip tissue and add definition to the outline of the mouth. Approximately 80 percent of patients in a clinical study saw increased lip volume and 75% reported improved vertical lines through one year.
Is This Product Safe?
Juvederm Volbella XC has been approved by the FDA for use by patients 21 and older who wish to add volume to their lips and decrease the appearance of lines. It is not recommended for those who are pregnant or have a history of severe allergic reactions, excessive scarring or a pigmentation disorder. Volbella XC has not been tested in other areas of the face or body.
